Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center

Theatre Journeys is a two week summer workshop for students ages 10 to 13. Students will create new versions of existing stories or fairytales, transforming them into a brand new mini play. The workshop culminates in an evening of the students’ creations. The student’s journey goes beyond the text by creating sets, costumes, and props for their show. What starts out as merely a story ends up being an exciting presentation that brings together all of the elements of live theatre.

Theatre Journeys is among three summer programs offered through the Performing Arts department at the FAC. Youth Repertory Theatre 2008 begins June 9 for students 14 to 18, presenting two full scale productions (a musical and a play) the week of July 14, 2008. Children six to ten can experience the wonders of musical theatre in The Musical Theatre Adventure offered July 7-11. This high-energy class now offers two performances on Friday, July 11; registration is through Bemis School of Art.

Schedule
Theatre Journeys runs from June 2 through June 13. Classes are from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The final performance will be Friday, June 13 at 7:00 pm. All classes, and the final performance, will take place in the newly renovated Music Room at the Fine Arts Center (FAC). Students are requested to arrive early so class can begin at 9:00 am. The final performance is free and open to the public.

Payment for Theatre Journeys must be made in person at the Fine Arts Center Box Office. Please print the following forms, which are required to complete registration:

All registration forms must be completely filled out, signed, and handed to a Box Office Representative prior to making payment.

Registration begins Tuesday, April 15 and will stay open until the class is full. SPACE IS LIMITED.
